The White House said Friday that Judge Sonia Sotomayor, President Obama’s nominee for the Supreme Court vacancy, used a poor choice of words in a speech eight years ago when she suggested that a Latina judge would reach a better conclusion than a white male judge who doesn’t have the same life experiences.

“I think she’d say that her word choice in 2001 was poor, that she was simply making the point that personal experience are relevant for the process of the judging,” said Robert Gibbs, the White House press secretary.

OK it is over. People are smacking down Newt and Rush for being critical of Sotomayor's poor choice of words in 2001. Notwithstanding the fact that on the surface the words were both racist and sexist, it is time to MoveOn. The double standard for career ending language faux pas lives on.

There is that troubling decision with the white firefighter who got screwed when the city decided not to give the job to the guys who did best on a test for promotion. There is something corrupt when the guy who is the best candidate does not get the job, but let's just MoveOn. Will anyone be brave enough to ask her if she thinks it is OK to discriminate against white males? Probably not. That would be a sexist insult to Latinas.
