Apathy in Albany Over War of 1812 Bicentennial
Perhaps there will be more excitement in New Orleans where the biggest victory of the war took place, even if it was after a peace agreement was signed.  US fighters under the command of Andrew Jackson defeated the same British forces that had only recently defeated Napoleon at Waterloo.  It was an interesting battle that demonstrated the strength of prepared defensive positions over offensive forces in the open field.  It was a lesson that would have to be relearned in the Civil War where Stonewall Jackson made a virtue of it.
