Hillary thinks problem with Syria strategy is a failure of execution and not strategy

NY Times:

Hillary Clinton Criticizes Failure of Training Syrian Rebels

Mrs. Clinton said that the inability of the U.S. military to train Syrian rebels to fight against the Islamic State on the ground had exacerbated the crises in the region.
The problem is ted to begin with because there are not enough Syrians willing to fight the regime to make it work.  Most of the military aged men who reject the regime would rather fight European border guards for access to the welfare state than stay and fight Assad.   Obama chose this flawed strategy because he rejected a more effective approach which would have involved direct US confrontation with the Assad regime.  He also waited too long to implement the strategy allowing most of those willing to fight to join the Islamist of al Qaeda and ISIL.
