Property tax rebellion in Texas

The desire to lessen the burden of big government is nothing new. Another UT/Texas Tribune poll taken in 2015 showed that 54 percent of those polled were “dissatisfied with property taxes” and for good reason. Currently Texans pay the sixth highest property tax nationwide and according to Politifact Texas.

The schools are the big consumer of property taxes and they appear to have little restraint on their ability to tax and spend.  Some of their expenditures appear frivolous.   In the recent legislative session, these same schools have fought tooth and nail to prevent parents from having school choice even when they are keeping kids in failing schools.
