Are Democrats willing to accept popular immigration reforms to get a Dreamer deal?
NY Times:
They should also drop their ridiculous claims that the term "chain migration" is racists and about slavery. That is an absurd attempt to change the subject by attacking the English language. Up until a few weeks ago, they used the term themselves and it appears they must have gotten a memo from George Lakoff or some other democrat partisan trying to reframe the debate. Perhaps they are trying to con blacks who also support the immigration reforms. Do they have any self-awareness on how foolish they look making that argument?
Democrats find themselves on the wrong side of the voters on issues like chain migration and the immigration lottery. The merit-based replacement is extremely popular with voters which must be why most of these stories in the mainstream media do not even bring it up. If the Democrats want the Dreamers' path to citizenship they are going to have to agree to what Trump and the majority of voters want.
