Evangelical Christians are more supportive of Israel than many Democrat Jews

NY Times:

New U.S. Embassy Signals Israeli- Evangelical Alliance

The opening of the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem signifies the increasing importance of conservative Christians to Israel, at the risk of upsetting American Jews.
Christians have been more supportive of Israel than liberal Jews for some time.   They probably study the Bible more too.  These Christians are no threat to Jews in this country or in Israel.  While some may have theological reasons for supporting Israel, others see Israel like many see a home team they support.  Fundamentalist Christians tend to be like strict constructionist dealing with the constitution.  If God gave that land to Israel, it belongs to the Jews who are there and not to some interlopers.  This is not that different from the recent expression by the Saudi Crown Prince.
