Sen. gets it wrong on Russian motives

NY Times:

Top Republican Senator Says ‘No Reason to Dispute’ That Russia Favored Trump

Senator Richard M. Burr of North Carolina, the chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said he saw “no reason to dispute” the findings of the United States’ spy agencies.
Burr appears to be overlooking evidence that counters his position.  A better case can be made that Russia was trying to discredit both candidates and was much more successful in helping the Democrats than Trump.

Russians obviously helped the Hillary Clinton campaign with salacious allegations against Trump which allowed her and Obama administration officials to get teh FBI and intelligence agencies to spy on Trump and get media cooperation in slandering him and his campaign.  It was one of the most disruptive operations in history and the media was complicit it helping them with that agenda.  They played the intel agencies, the FBI and the media like a fiddle.

When you look at that operation and compare it to the weak attempt to "help" the Trump campaign with the meeting with Donald Trump Jr. and it is pretty clear they favored Clinton more.

Burr appears to be engaged in willful blindness to reach the collusion stated by the media.  I think Putin was messing with both campaigns.
