Who knew?--Calling Trump voters 'alt-right' and Nazis is a turnoff

Washington Post:
Trump voters stay loyal because they feel disrespected

Liberal and conservative analysts make the same discovery in a Michigan county that flipped in the 2016 election.
It is funny how people can tell when you hate them, and the "resistance" has made no secret of its hatred for Trump voters calling them names and physically attacking them.  I have been closely following politics since the 1960's and had never heard the term "alt-right" before the 2016 election and was surprised to see it used against those who voted against Democrats.  As a student of history, I know about the Nazis and do not think Trump voters are anything close to fitting that description.

So why are liberals in the resistance just now beginning to understand that insulting people is not a way to get their vote?  Perhaps the media has had a hand in this problem for liberals when they label people as "alt-right" who disagree with the liberal solution to their problems.
